The City of New York is the largest city of the country. The Island of Manhattan was purchased from the Lenape Native American Nation by Peter Minuit, a representative of a Dutch company in 1626. Gentleman Minuit founded the City of New York that same year.

The City of New York was first named New Amsterdam in 1624 later to be renamed New York by the new English owners. It was the Capital of the United States from 1785-1790.

New York City is considered the financial and media Capital of the World; the significant influences to the world in commerce, entertainment, tourism, fashion and Art are evident.

The City is considered the beginning of the gateway to legal immigration into the United States of America. The City is also the home of the headquarters of the United Nations.
